River Bend

About River Bend

The United States Pony Clubs, Inc., develops character, leadership, confidence and a sense of community in youth through a program that teaches the care of horses and ponies, riding and mounted sports.

RBPC members certification, September 2022Overview

River Bend Pony Club was founded in January 1972 as an offshoot of Great Falls Pony Club. We are a national 501(c)(3) organization. While we focus on the activities of Dressage, Show Jumping, and Combined Training, our members seek to become well rounded, team oriented and safety-conscious horse men and women.

Mission

Now celebrating our 50th anniversary, River Bend puts its emphasis on group, mounted lessons. Lessons are held throughout the spring and fall, and our number of lessons exceeds that of other area clubs.

Along with other clubs, we form and send teams to various Pony Club "rallies" through the year. Quiz (knowledge, the only unmounted rally), Dressage, Show Jumping, and Eventing are preferred events, although we have also had members doing Tetrathalon and Games rallies.

We encourage using other horse activities and try not to be limited to the familiar activities. Some examples of other horse activities are driving, endurance and competitive trail riding, foxhunting, Hunter/Jumper shows, mounted games, reining, and vaulting.

The participation of parents and sponsors is vital to the success of RBPC's mission. Parents or supporters are present at meetings, and all families need to pitch in to make our events a success and to support rallies. This makes Pony Club a true family activity, where even those unfamiliar with horses can contribute. Through these activities, wonderful friendships and connections are made by both our members and their families.
